While we at Bante Design LLC are able to work on any space, we specialize in BEDROOMS and particularly love working on children's bedrooms.  We have worked on nurseries, children and teen rooms-letting the kids be part of the process and creating healthy, balancing and supportive spaces for them to grow with and enjoy!

Make sure to check out the BRAND NEW website Feng Shui for Teens-the dedicated site to the book of the same name, pictures, workshops & more!

****In case you missed DeAnna on The Tiffany Dejon radio show discussing Feng Shui for Teens, and how Feng Shui helps teens w/goal-setting, self-esteem and confidence building, here it is!*****

This nursery was done with the direction of keeping it in line with their other son's room (green stripes) and an animal theme.  We did this by utilizing horizontal stripes and a color scheme reminiscent of nature: earth tone on the bottom to represent the ground, a green stripe to represent grass and blue on the upper portion of the wall and carried on to the ceiling to represent the sky.  Animal soft sculptures were hung in an organic pattern along the green stripe to help break up the "linear" feel to the room.  When the mother walked into the space the first thing she said was "how relaxing and comforting" being in the room felt to her.

This room was for a little 6yr old girl who gave me the parameters of: Dora the Explorer, Jack and the Beanstalk, Flower Fairies and her Jessica Albright All American Girl Doll as the themes I was to put together for her.  I utilized a historic color scheme of 1950s pastels with the "pop" of brighter colors.  This room is beautiful and with the chosen color scheme, this room will be able to grow as Laura grows up.

This room was designed for a 10yr old boy who loves the Old West, his arrowheads and has a money collection.  He is also very involved with the Boy Scouts and suffers from allergies/asthma.  I chose a historic color scheme taken from the turn of the 19th century of the adobes of the SW and the Art Deco influence incurred.  Adobes are painted with blue and/or white along the doors and windows so they stand out against the color of the sand/brick.  We painted the windows/doors in 2 colors of blue, did a faux leather treatment on the walls, put a leather shag rug on the floor and made shadow boxes with his arrowheads and money to place around the room.  No VOC paint was used and bamboo bedding was purchased for the bed.

This "movie theme" room was done for a 17yr old boy who wants a career in the movie industry (he has the biggest movie collection I've ever seen!).  We had to create a space that was condusive to his goals/dreams, while taking into consideration some of his mental and physical challenges.  I spaced planned the room in zones for him to be better able to organize his things (i.e. sleeping area, getting dressed area, study area, entertainment area), chose a "cool" color scheme taken from the star ceiling, while using pops of red color (color of SUCCESS in Feng Shui) throughout the room & in the Red Carpet I had made from a company that actually makes red carpets for events!  I also had director's chairs and a sign painted for him to help encourage his movie career dreams.  Shadow boxes were made with some of this special effects items he has gotten as movie collectibles.

"Feng Shui for Teens" is the perfect book for tuning up your bedroom, or any other rooms. It’s simple, easy, and it works. I would definitely use this to help me design a room.- Kate B, 13.  Student from the "Designing the Bedroom of Your Dreams-Teen" in Milwaukee WI class

Workshop Descriptions:

Designing the Life of Your Dreams...From the Outside In! (Kid’s Version): In this new workshop for kids (age 12 years old and up) we learn about the Laws of Attraction and how what we think affects our confidence, goal-setting and social interactions.  Be prepared to learn about what your "stuff" says about you and how to go about purging un-needed, and un-loved items and how they can really be holding you back.  Learn some beginning feng shui principles and how to apply this age old science, along with your goals, into creating the path to achieve your dreams.  Get ready for an interactive, fun, learning experience with some “art” projects that will act as reminders when self-doubt creeps in.

Some students making their Treausre Maps in the Designing the Life of Your Dreams class

Feng Shui for Teens:  Here we talk of the history of feng shui, the bagua board and how to apply the colors and principles to their personal space.  Organizing, color, goal-setting and basic space-planning are all discussed in this workshop.  Feng shui is made fun, understandable and easy to apply for kids who want to learn more about this 5000 year old design philosophy.

The Laws of Attraction for Teens:  Learn the principles of positive thinking and how to attract the things you want in life into your life.  Topics discussed are the powers of positive thought, how what/who you surround yourself with affects you, how to set goals/priorities to achieve success and some confidence building skills that will empower you throughout school, a job and life.

Some completed Treasure Maps to be used for goal-setting

Designing the Bedroom of Your Dreams-Kid's Version:  This new seminar is for the "budding" designer who wants to express themselves (while NOT ruining walls!) in their bedrooms.  We talk basic color theory and space-planning and how to "rebel" and make your personal statement through accessories without stressing out and scaring your parents.  We also discuss healthy/natural alternatives for kids who have allergies, health issues or are environmentally conscious.

(De)Cluttering for Kids: Due to the popularity of Organizing Your Inner Pack Rat for adults, this seminar was developed for the children of "clutter-aholics".  Many participants were bringing their kids to seminars as the parents saw their kids copying their pack-rat tendencies.  So, this seminar is devoted to the kids!  We talk about the WHYS of keeping items past their usefulness or age appropriateness and HOW we can let go and move forward.  Basic organizing skills are also discussed to make their spaces more efficient and useful for them and to teach them skills that they will use into adulthood.

The Importance of Small Talk:  This workshops teaches teens the importance of "small talk" and how to overcome their shyness @ social gatherings.  We discuss the 5 roadblocks & how to prepare for a party.  In overcoming their fears they will gain self-confidence & increase self-esteem.

Leadership 101:  Ever wonder why some groups/companies have no turnover, happy staffs and get their projects done on time?  In this  workshop from Bante Design, learn what constitutes a GOOD leader and how you can develop these skills yourself.  We look at the DOs and DON'Ts of leadership, take a page from Napoleon Hill as to what is a successful leader and how you can mentor and develop leadership skills in your staff.

Polish Your Presentation Skills to Shine: Learn the 4 styles of communication and how to address each style when presenting/talking to potential bosses, teachers and/or classmates. and working a room to maximize exposure of self.

Etiquette-It's More Than Using the Right Fork:  In our ever-changing world of technology, our social skills have declined as we become more and more dependent on our techno-gadgets (laptops, email, IM ing, texting, iPods…).  Learn how to properly greet someone or the art of the handshake, proper topics of conversation in a any setting, proper phone etiquette (don’t get me started on this one!), proper email etiquette and table manners at a business dinner.  Bring a personal touch back to your interactions and impress your boss, your friends and family.

For all of the TEACHERS or PARENTS who Home-School their children-check out these 2 new workshops on classroom design:

Designing the Classroom of Your Dreams: We discuss color theory and why the colors in your classroom maybe causing your students to lose focus, not concentrate or get "sleepy".  Space-planning issues are talked about (is your desk in the "death position" of the room?) and how to correct them.  And proper accessorizing of this space is talked about at length to bring about the proper mood for learning.  Healthy space principles are also discussed in terms of choosing the right fabrics, flooring and furnishings.

Healthy Classroom Design: It IS easy being GREEN!:  Want to create a fun, exciting space for your students to learn in?     In this seminar learn tips on how to implement GREEN or “healthy” design to your classroom through universal design, building materials, furnishings and cleaners.
